Part A - Child-Friendly Privacy Notice

This page is for children aged 9 to 13 who use MockMode. There is a longer Privacy Policy for parents and anyone who wants more detail.

What is MockMode?

MockMode helps you practise for the 11+. Your parent or guardian makes and looks after the account. You do not need your own email address or password, and you do not pay for the account yourself.

What information do we use about you?

  • your first name;
  • the questions you try and the answers you give;
  • whether your answers are right or wrong;
  • your practice and mock-exam results;
  • topics and difficulty levels you have practised;
  • bookmarks, badges and certificates;
  • your progress, including which topics you are doing better at and which may need more practice; and
  • if your parent chooses to add them, a target school or region and an exam date.

We do not ask you for your own email address, phone number, date of birth, current school, postcode, photograph or exact location. MockMode also notes how long you take on each question, so you and your grown-up can see how you're getting on.

Why do we use it?

We use this information so MockMode can save your work, mark your answers and show you and your parent how your practice is going. A progress heat-map can show topics where your accuracy is higher or lower. MockMode may suggest topics to practise next, but you and your parent decide what to practise. MockMode does not predict whether you will pass the 11+ or get into a school.

Who can see it?

Your parent or guardian can see information about your practice and progress through the account. MockMode staff and trusted technology companies may handle information when needed to run and protect the service. Your results are not shown publicly to other MockMode users, and there is no chat, messaging or public profile.

Does MockMode use AI on my work?

No. MockMode does not send your name, answers, results or progress to ChatGPT, Claude or another AI service. AI tools may help us draft practice content before it is added to MockMode, but the content is reviewed before you see it.

Advertising

We do not use your practice information to show you behavioural adverts and we do not send marketing messages directly to children. We do not sell your information.

Your rights

Your information is about you, so you have rights. You can ask what information we have, tell us if something is wrong, or ask about deleting it. You can ask your parent or guardian to help, or contact us at support@mockmode.app. If something is unclear or worries you, ask a trusted adult for help.

How long do we keep it?

We keep your learning information while the account is open. If the account is closed, we normally delete or anonymise it from the live system within 30 days. Copies may remain for a short time in secure backups before they are automatically replaced.

Part B - Cookie and Storage Technologies Notice

MockMode uses a small amount of browser storage and similar technology to make the service work. At launch we do not use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, Microsoft Clarity, Hotjar, advertising cookies, retargeting or session-replay analytics.

Where consent is required, non-essential technology will not be set before valid consent is obtained.

MockMode's web fonts are served from our own hosting, so loading them does not contact Google or another font provider.

Part C - Cancellation and Refund Notice

Our 14-day first-subscription refund guarantee

When you make your first paid MockMode Premium purchase, we give you a voluntary 14-day full-refund guarantee. If you tell us within 14 days of the date your first payment is taken that you want to cancel and receive a refund, we will refund that first payment in full even if Premium has been used during those 14 days.

This guarantee is additional to your statutory consumer rights. It does not restart on renewals, plan changes or later re-subscriptions.

Your statutory cancellation rights

If you are a consumer buying a MockMode subscription online, you may also have statutory cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Different rules can apply to services and to digital content supplied without a tangible medium, particularly where supply starts during a cancellation period. Nothing in MockMode's Terms removes a statutory right.

How to cancel

To stop a future renewal, use Manage subscription in your MockMode account, which opens the Stripe Customer Portal. You do not need to call us. To request a refund under the 14-day first-subscription guarantee, also email support@mockmode.app and clearly ask for the refund.

After the first 14 days, ordinary cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the period already paid for and does not receive a pro-rata refund, unless a refund or other remedy is required by law or MockMode has materially failed to provide the paid service.

MockMode will acknowledge a data-protection complaint within 30 days, investigate it appropriately without undue delay, keep you informed as appropriate and tell you the outcome. We will keep a record of the complaint and our response for accountability purposes.
